My favorite way to eat sweet potatoes are in fry form. I love sweet potatoes in all forms with all sorts of different spices and especially with THIS lime cilantro dip. Sprialize a few sweet potatoes, toss in oil (avocado is my favorite) and seasoning salts and toss in the oven. Out comes delicious, baked curly sweet potatoes. This KitchenAid Sprializer is my new favorite kitchen tool, along with the KitchenAid MINI! We've been on a zoodles and apples kick but now we've moved on to sweet ...

Pork Spring Rolls
You know what Asian restaurants are really good at making? Two things--Asian food and doughnuts. Here in Texas (and back in California) we have real doughnut shops on every corner. So I've grown to be picky, and these absolutely do not compare to grocery store doughnuts! And the Asian food...MAN do they make some good fried rice, egg drop soup, crab rangoons, and pork spring rolls! There's a lot of food that I love to fry, and I feel like I fry more food than most. People complain of it ...

Teriyaki Rice Bowl - {Rumbi Island Grill copycat recipe}
Rumbi Island Grill was one of my favorite places to go in college. They made this amazing teriyaki rice bowl that I loved to get. Half steak, half grilled chicken, lots of fresh veggies, ride and beans. They had a teriyaki sauce that knocked it all out of the park. We don't lived by any of these restaurants anymore, so we often recreate this amazing teriyaki rice bowl at home. Serve with rice paper rolls for a complete meal. How to Make Teriyaki Rice Bowls I start by preparing my rice- it ...

The Art of Serving with Food // Service Series
Today we are starting a holiday series that I have been wanting to do for literally years. I began pitching the idea of a service series years ago, but the time just never seemed right. A few months ago, we began planning our holiday posts and I decided this was the year! You might remember Des's post from last week with her Almond Poppyseed Bread- we were so lucky to collaborate with the LDS church and introduce their Christmas campaign #Light the World! The timing of our service series was ...

This time of year I get all sorts of ideas for elaborate dinners, perfect presents, cookies baking in the oven, and a Pinterest-worthy decorated home. Let's get real for a second. No one can have all of those things and still sleep. For this reason I love meals like this rosemary chicken and potatoes. This entire meal is made in one pan! The meal turns out elegant and beautiful, while the prep time is around 10 minutes. When I make this Rosemary Chicken and Potatoes meal it is a huge hit! ...
Homemade Bucatini Carbonara
Creamy Homemade Bucatini Carbonara. I've been dying to go to this restaurant in Utah that makes their pasta carbonara table side. They flambé the inside of a giant almost-hollowed-out parmesan cheese wheel (like bigger than you and your date's heads combined), pour in the hot pasta along with the raw eggs and everything else, and stir stir stir until it's all cooked and creamy and cheesy. UGH. I die. I really wish I had a giant parmesan cheese wheel. But since I don't have a giant parmesan ...

Balsamic Pasta Salad with Grilled Zucchini
I recently ordered this salad at Goodfella's during a busy day at work. Spinach, bruschetta, grilled zucchini and chicken, capers, parm, and, wait for it......pasta! My co-worker and I shared it and after we both commented on how much we loved the penne in the salad! Salad? Good. Carbs? Even better. I went to Walmart and picked up a box of La Moderna penne. This stuff is golden, find it here!. It's a high-protein pasta, held together nicely after the perfect al-dente cook, has a ...
How To Throw The BEST Adult Halloween Party
Around my house we take Halloween pretty seriously. We have more Halloween decorations than Christmas, we start planning costumes in July, and we always have a big adult Halloween party. We really look forward to some rare alone time with our friends sans kids. It gives us a chance to laugh and talk without being interupted and allows us to have tons and tons of fun! My husband and I have been throwing this party for about 11 years - so we have this down to a science! I want to share a ...
Baked Tomato Risotto
I just love a good creamy risotto. 'Risotto' is style of cooking rice so that it is more creamy. The creamy happens because the rice is cooked in some type of broth and it releases starches making the entire dish thicken and become creamy. Long grain rice doesn't work so well for this. Short grained rice, particularly Arborio rice is the best. The shorter the grain the more starch. If you wanted to make a simple pot of arborio rice, you simmer some rice in veggie or meat broth and stir and stir, ...
