Why This Recipe Works
7 layer dip is a Mexican inspired dip that is made up of layers of common Mexican chip dippers. In this seven layer taco dip recipe, we have used refried beans, seasoned greek yogurt, mild salsa, shredded cheese, avocado, diced tomatoes, and sliced olives. This recipe is perfect for those who don't want to share, because everyone gets their own little cup. Not only is this recipe made in under 15 minutes, it requires zero cooking. You're going to love it!
About The Ingredients
All of the ingredients for this recipe can be purchased at your local grocery store. Here are a few items to note:
Greek Yogurt - make sure you opt for plain. We are using it in place of a sour cream mixture commonly used in this dip and will be mixing several spices with it, so make sure it is plain. This ingredient adds a nice creamy element to the dip.
Spices - we will be making our own taco seasoning for this dip using chili powder, garlic salt, onion salt, cumin, and paprika.
Mild Salsa - you can make your own, or you can use your favorite store bought version.
Feel free to get creative and use your own favorite ingredients in there. Pinto or black beans can be subbed for the refried, guacamole can be subbed for the avocados, and green onions can be subbed for the cilantro. To take the heat up a notch, use a hot salsa in place of the mild. If you like the salsa chunky, try Pico de Gallo. Add a touch of cream cheese to your greek yogurt mixture. You could even add a layer of cooked ground beef for some extra protein.
