    What Is Raspberry Limeade?

Limeade is the same as lemonade except made with lime juice instead of lemons. The flavor of limes is a bit tangier and acidic compared to lemons.

Limeade with raspberries takes it to another level by adding sweet berries. It is a refreshing and delicious drink that is the perfect summer beverage.

Why You Will Love This Limeade Recipe

    • Great flavor! It brings together fresh tart limes, sweet sugar, and bright raspberries creating a summertime flavor explosion.
    • A homemade summer beverage you can feel good about serving the family.
    • Refreshing and thirst quenching whether your sipping it poolside or serving it up for a backyard dinner.

If you love the flavors in this limeade recipe you may also enjoy a refreshing strawberry lemonade or creamy raspberry sorbet.

    Ingredients

For this homemade limeade recipe you'll need the following:

    • Raspberries: Use fresh if you can get them but frozen will work too.
    • Limes: Use fresh limes for the best flavor. You will need about six limes depending on how juicy they are.
    • Sugar: Use white sugar for the best color as it won't interfere with the pink color of the raspberries.

    Variations

    • Swap the raspberries. You can use just about any fresh or frozen berries to create different flavors of limeade.
    • Make it sparkling. Swap the still water added after blending to sparkling water to make sparkling limeade.
    • Raspberry lemonade. You can use lemons in place of limes to easily transform this into a lemonade. Just be sure to use fresh lemons.

    How to Make Raspberry Limeade

This comes together really fast.  Let me show you how:

    1. Juice your limes.
    2. Combine the raspberries, sugar, and one cup of water and simmer for 2 minutes.  Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool.
    3. Transfer the cooled mixture to a blender and blend for 30 seconds until smooth.  If desired, strain mixture thru a fine sieve to remove raspberry seeds.
    4. Combine the raspberry syrup, lime juice, and remaining water in a pitcher. Stir it together and serve over ice.

    Can I use a high-powered blender?

Yes you can! When I use a blender to make this drink, I use a Blendtec - one of my most used kitchen appliances. You'll also need the same ingredients but replace one cup of water with a cup of ice.

Making this beverage is so easy - you won't even believe it!

    1. In your blender jar, combine fresh raspberries, peeled limes, ice, sugar, and water.
    2. Blend until smooth.  If using the Blendtec - use the whole juice setting.

    Expert Tips

    • Raspberries have a lot of little seeds that likely won't blend up using a standard blender. If desired you can pour the mixture through a fine sieve to remove them.
    • Limeade is best served freshly made and well chilled or over ice.
    • If serving up limeade for a party in a pitcher you can add slices of lime and fresh berries to the pitcher to make it look more festive.
    • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to two weeks or in your freezer for about 3 months.
    • Adjust the flavor to your own tastes. Add water for a lighter flavor, or add more simple syrup for a sweeter flavor.

    FAQs

Lime juice acts as a digestive and a detoxifying agent and helps in cleaning the liver leading to better digestive health. Limes are also a rich source of vitamin C and protects the body from Immune system deficiencies. While the benefits of citrus are wonderful, it is not good to consume a lot of refined sugar - which limeade contains.  So drink only on occasion.

Can I use store-bought lime juice in place of fresh?

Store-bought has a different flavor that fresh, so I do not recommend making this making this substitution.

How do I get more juice from my limes?

A few pro tips to get more juice out of your limes lemons you can press it down and roll it against your counter with the palm of your hand or place it in the microwave for 10 seconds.

Simmer and boil are very different. Which is it?

Good catch! Simmering is the goal here—not a full boil. I’ll update the wording to make that clearer. Appreciate the heads-up!
