Coconut Tea Green Smoothie

Did you know that June is national iced tea month? Today I’m making a green smoothie and including one of my favorite herbal teas. I don’t drink black tea, but I LOVE iced herbal tea.  It is such a little treat for me.  I usually add in a touch of almond milk and stevia for a sweet afternoon treat.  As you know, we are good friends with the folks over at Takeya.  I really love their pitcher.  I use it for crystal light, orange juice, ice tea, and ice water.  Each time I’ve used it while entertaining, I get questions about it.

Using the Takeya Pitcher

I love making iced tea in the pitcher because it is so darn fast!  Today I am using the Takeya Coconut Lime Rooibos tea.  You steep your loose tea with the attachable tea infuser in hot water.  7 minutes later you fill the pitcher with ice, give it a shake…

and you have flash chilled iced herbal tea ready to pour!  The pitcher is slender enough to store in my fridge door, and the cap seals shut so you can even store it on its side.

Green Smoothies FTW

My kids love smoothies – and this recipe is kid friendly, because Takeya’s herbal teas are caffeine free.  I combined the iced coconut tea, 1 banana, 1 cup of fresh pineapple, a handful of spinach, a few ice cubes and a scoop of vanilla protein powder for a tropical green smoothie.  Perfect for these warm summer days.

The coconut lime tea gives the perfect hit of coconut and creates a pina colada flavor to your smoothie.

Blend it all up and serve immediately!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple
  • 1 cup Takuya Coconut Lime tea
  • 1 banana
  • 1 handful fo spinach
  • 1 scoop protein powder
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth.
  2. Serve immediately.
