Ingredients

- Hard Boiled Eggs: Check out these pressure cooker hard boiled eggs for tips on making and peeling hard boiled eggs. You can also save time and buy cooked hard boiled eggs.
- Mayonnaise: I recommend full-fat mayo for the best results and creamiest filling.
- Vinegar: This is the key to making the best ever deviled eggs! Just a little adds zing and brightens up the flavor of the filling. You can use white vinegar, white wine vinegar, or apple cider vinegar.
- Yellow Mustard: Adds a tangy, slightly sharp flavor to the filling. Feel free to use Dijon or spicy brown mustard if you’ve got either of those on hand, but note this will alter the flavor profile a bit.
- Garnish: I used a sprinkle of paprika and some fresh, chopped chives for a pop of color and extra flavor.

How to Make 5 Star Deviled Eggs
To get started, boil your eggs if you haven’t done so already. Once they’re cool enough to handle, peel and slice in half lengthwise.
- Step 1: Remove the egg yolks. Carefully pop out the egg yolks from each boiled egg white half.
- Step 2: Add yolks to a bowl. Place the boiled egg yolks in a mixing bowl.

- Step 3: Mix up the filling. Add the mayo, vinegar, and mustard to the egg yolks and use a hand mixer to mix until well combined. Using a hand mixer is the secret to the creamiest deviled egg filling. Taste the mixture and add salt and pepper as desired.
- Step 4: Fill and garnish. Fill the well of each boiled egg white half with some of the egg yolk mixture. Garnish the filled eggs with a sprinkle of paprika and chives.

Expert Tips
- Use a piping bag: I recommend using a piping bag and tip for filling the egg white halves. It’s much easier and faster than using a spoon. Plus, the presentation is much nicer.
- Refrigerate after 2 hours: If you’re serving these at a party, the FDA recommends only keeping them at room temperature for 2 hours. Once they’ve been sitting out for 2 hours, you’ll need to pop them in the fridge.
- Storing: Store the prepared deviled eggs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. You can make and store just the hard boiled eggs for up to a week.
Recipe FAQs
To help keep the yolk centered, store the raw eggs on their side overnight, rotate them occasionally before cooking, or gently swirl them while boiling. These methods prevent the yolk from settling at the bottom. While it’s not necessary, it’s a great trick if you want picture-perfect deviled eggs.
If your deviled egg filling is too runny, you may have added too much mayo or vinegar, overmixed the yolks, or used slightly undercooked eggs. To fix it, mix in more boiled yolk or chill the filling in the fridge for 15–20 minutes to help it firm up.
