    Coke Icee

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Coke icee is a summer past time classic! It's so easy to make at home and maybe add a few embellishments to make over the top gourmet!

    WHAT IS A COKE ICEE?

A coke icee is a slushy type drink made from the carbonated soda Coca-Cola. When bought from a convenience store or a movie theater it is made in a special patented machine that keeps the liquid at a cold temperature where it doesn't completely freeze but keeps it at an icee liquid. Since we don't own these machines at home I'm showing you how to copycat a coke icee.

WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE A COKE ICEE?

COKE! plain a simple. You need chilled coke. I'll show you two ways to make this slushy drink!

CAN I USE DIET COKE? OR ANOTHER SODA?

YES! You can use a zero calorie soda, or any soda for that matter.

HOW TO MAKE COKE ICEE IN A BLENDER

Probably the most accessible way to make coke icee is using coke ice cubes and a blender.

    Step 1:

Pour coke into an ice tray and let it freeze completely. One tray will use about 12 oz of soda, and will need about 12 oz of soda for the blender. It should make 2-3 servings. For more freeze 2 trays of coke  ice cubes.

PROTIP: As the soda freeze it will expand quite a bit. Fill the cubes about ¾ full.

    Step 2:

Place all coke ice from tray and 12 oz of coke in blender and blend.

Pour into a cup and devour!!

HOW TO MAKE A COKE ICEE IN AN ICE CREAM MAKER

I love using my KitchenAid ice cream maker as a slushy maker! A few pros to using the ice cream maker is

    1. less steps
    2. makes a thicker slushy
    3. makes more slushy

Simply add chilled soda to the cold ice cream maker and let it stir for 10-15 minutes.

    WHAT IS A GOURMET SODA?

A gourmet soda is a soda with added flavors, creams and fruits.  It's an old time drink served at soda shoppes, and recently appearing in small cookie and soda shops in the west.

HOW DO YOU  MAKE GOURMET SODA ICEE!?

Turn a traditional gourmet soda, or a regular coke icee into a gourmet coke icee! Add syrups, cream, and or fruits such as lemon, lime strawberry puree etc. It'll take your icee up to another level 100%!

    GOURMET SODA COBINATIONS:

PROTIP: Invest in some really great Torani syrups! They will last for a long time and have the best flavor.
    • coconut + lime
    • pineapple, pineapple, lime and a dash of cream
    •  strawberry puree, coconut and a dash of cream
    • peach and strawberry

Using an ice cream maker is a great idea. We made these the old fashioned way - put a glass bottle of Coke in the freezer for a few hours until we’ll chilled but not yet looking frozen. When you open it it will freeze up; use a straw to drink straight out of the bottle. It takes some testing to get the timing right, and you definitely do not want to leave it in too longer it will pop the top.
