    Shirley Temple Recipe

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Shirley Temples are a delicious chilled fizzy drink. Gingerale, Grenadine, lots of ice and top with a cherry! A classic from your childhood dressed up for holidays, or fun evenings with friends and family. EVERYONE is sure to love this shirley temple recipe. We've  made this on a little spooky for Halloween season, but leave the candy eyes out for a classic shirley temple drink.

WHERE DID SHIRLEY TEMPLE COME FROM?

The young famous actress Shirley Temple often ate and went to parties with adult celebrities, because she couldn't drink they made her very own mocktail. Gingerale, grenadine, and maraschino cherries. All things found behind a bar but that a child could drink!

WHAT DO YOU PUT IN A TRADITIONAL SHIRLEY TEMPLE?

    Three simple ingredients!

    • Ginger Ale
    • Grenadine
    • Maraschino Cherries

    ginger ale, grenadine, cherries

CAN I SUBSTITUTE THE GINGER ALE?

Yes, if you are not a fan of ginger ale use a lemon lime soda like sprite or 7 up.

    WHAT IS GRENADINE MADE OF?

Grenadine is pomegranate juice sweetened with sugar- so a pomegranate syrup. It is non-alcoholic so don't worry about feeding it to your children!

WHERE DO I FIND GRENADINE SYRUP?

I always find mine in the alcohol isle in the "mixers" section. Ive never had any problems finding it, but if you do you can also substitute it with a Torani Pomegranate Syrup.

CAN I SUB GREDNADINE WITH SOMETHING ELSE?

YES! you can use a Torani syrup and use a Pomegranate flavor. If you cant find pomegranate you can use any red syrup. It will alter the traditional taste a little but will keep with the look and similar fruity bubbly flavor of a Shirley Temple drink.

HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT SHIRLEY TEMPLE RECIPE

STEP 1:  Begin by adding 1-2 onces of grenadine.

PRO TIP: chill all your ingredients before mixing! If you are not able to chill them add ice into the cup also.

STEP 2:  Fill remainder of cup with chilled ginger ale!

STEP 3: Top with Cherries and serve!!

HOW TO MAKE SHIRLEY TEMPLE  RECIPE A HALLOWEEN DRINK!

Here are some tips to make your Shirley temple super spooky.

1- FREEZE THE GRENDADINE IN THE CUP BEFORE SERVING.

Fill the cup with ice, and ginger ale and serve. You can top it off with little more grenadine if desired. The frozen red syrup at the bottom looks like blood and as it melts it will seep upwards into the drink giving the illusion of blood. (tip your cups slightly in the freezer for extra spooky effects)

2- CANDY EYES IN THE CHERRIES

This is very easy to do! Either place the eye where the pit was removed (a hole will already be there) or Using a knife cut an X in the desired area where you would like the eye to be and press it in the cherry.

3- HOW TO MAKE FAKE BLOOD DRIPPING DOWN THE SIDE

Mix Karo Syrup and red food dye (can be natural) together and slowly drizzle along rim. If you have time immediately place in the freeze to chill the karo syrup and keep it from dripping too far down.
