    Why This Recipe Works

Many are a little leary of eating lamb, but let me tell you – it is tender, flavorful, and so easy to prepare. These grilled lamb burgers are piled high with gourmet ingredients like pickled onions, a roasted tomato aioli, and a feta slaw. These flavors paired with the lamb really make this burger a unique treat. For a fun twist on that sauce, try this Big Mac Sauce.

    Let's Chat American Lamb

American Lamb farmers and ranchers work to protect the environment and care about animal well-being.  Sheep improve pastures and rangeland by cycling vital nutrients back through the soil, isn’t that amazing? Sheep also minimize erosion of the land.

There are small farms, and large farms throughout the US who focus on raising sheep. Ultimately this practice improves the quality of our land, supports rural communities, and provides food and fiber for the nation.

    About The Ingredients

American Lamb is raised by farmers and ranchers care about the land, the animals, and the local communities they serve across America. When you choose American Lamb, you support the nation’s shepherds and their families and help to sustain working farmland and farm communities.

Pickled Onions – Pickled onions will add that little bit of zing. We have an easy and delicious recipe for these babies, so be sure to check it out.

    How To Make This Recipe

There are a few steps to this recipe – the burger, and the toppings. I will cover the burger first, and then we will get into those delicious additions.

    The Lamb Patties

    How to make lamb patties.

    1. Combine ground lamb, olive oil, garlic, parsley, black pepper, and onion salt in a large bowl.

    2. Mix well with clean hands or a wooden spoon or spatula.

    3. For into 4 equal sized patties (about ¼ pound each). Flatten to about ¾ inch thick and press your thumb into the center of each patty. This will prevent some of the shrinking of the patty during cooking.

    4. Grill at 400 degrees for about 4 minutes on each side, or until internal temperature is 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

    The Toppings

Cabbage, mayo, roasted tomatoes, and garlic on a white baking sheet.

Now for the toppings! We are making feta slaw and roasted tomato aioli for these burgers.

How to make feta slaw and tomato aioli.

    5. For the feta slaw, add lemon juice, olive oil, black pepper, and salt to a large bowl. Whisk to combine.

    6. Add shredded cabbage and crumbled feta to the dressing and toss to combine.

    7. For the tomato aioli, add drained roasted tomatoes, garlic, salt, pepper, and mayo to a blender jar.

    8. Blend until smooth.

    Now Let's Build The Burger

How to build a burger step by step.

Start with a toasted bun, add greens if desired (like spinach or spring mix), drizzle some roasted tomato aioli, top with your perfectly cooked lamb burger, add feta slaw, and crown it with some pickled onions. Truly a burger made better.
