    Cheesy Breadsticks

Jump to Recipe Jump to Video Print Recipe

Who does not crave fluffy, homemade cheesy breadsticks? When a garlicky salty crust and a soft buttery bite with the best cheese pull every time? I mean, it goes PERFECT with not only just about every meal but it's also the perfect accessory to take to every dinner or party. Everyone loves homemade bread.

Two cheesy breadsticks with parsley and cup of marinara.

Why Cheesy Breadsticks Are The Best!

    1. SO EASY to make! You have all the ingredients in your pantry right now!
    2. They are fast! Bread can often take hours to make, which don't get me wrong it's worth it. The beautiful thing about this recipe is it is completed in about an hour.
    3. Fluffy, buttery, salty and topped with perfect melted cheese. It's a crowd favorite even for the pickiest eater.
    4. You can make them cheesy or not! These are perfectly delicious without cheese too!

    Ingredients for Cheesy Breadsticks

Flour, butter and other ingredients for breadsticks on a tray.
    • Pantry Items- You will need flour, salt, and sugar.
    • Yeast- My go-to yeast is Saf-Instant Yeast.
    • Melted Butter- This is essential for the perfect crispy buttery soft fluffy texture.
    • Toppings- this can be cheese, flakey sea salt, parsley flakes or parmesan cheese.

    How To Make Breadstick Dough

What I love about this breadstick recipe is that it is really easy and uses minimal ingredients yet they have the best flavor! The ingredients for the dough you will need:

Four photos showing adding ingredients to mixing bowl, rolling out dough and cutting.
    1. Start by mixing the warm water, yeast and sugar together. You'll want to make sure the yeast bubbles and is still active.
    2. Once the yeast has bubbled for a couple of minutes turn on mixer and slowly add in your 3 cups of flour and salt. Leave mixer on med-low speed and let knead the dough for about 5 minutes after the ingredients have all been incorporated.
    3. Let the dough rise in the bowl for 10-20 minutes.
    4. On a lightOn a lightly floured surface gently roll out the dough to a rectangle and about 1 inch thick.

PRO-TIP Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough! its so fast and so easy!!

    How To Bake Breadsticks

    1. Take the melted butter, spread on your sheet cake pan and dip both sides of the dough into the butter.
    2. Let Breadsticks rise for about 20 minutes or until they have doubled in size.
    3. Top your breadsticks with preferred topping. If you are topping with cheese do that now.
    4. Bake! Serve warm.

    The Breadsticks Toppings

The salty garlicky crusty topping is probably the most important part to these breadsticks, aside from their warm fluffiness. You will need:

    1. Coarse Sea Salt - my personal favorite is Redmonds RealSalt. It's not only the best salty flavor (trust me, we've done taste tests) but it also has over 60 minerals that are amazing for you. It's the only pink sea salt in the mined in the US.
    2. Garlic salt- Redmonds also has an incredible garlic salt. Might as well pick that up too.
    3. Parsley Flakes
    4. Parmesean cheese! We love to add a little fresh powder parmesan cheese.

What Do I Serve Cheesy Breadsticks With?

My favorite dishes to serve breadsticks with are soups, chili, or a delicious grilled meat along side a salad.

One bowl of soup with breadsticks on the side.

    Notes

You don't want to overcook them or the bottoms will be a little too crispy. Remove from the pan when they are done baking into a clean towel lined bowl or bread basket and serve immediately!
