    Grape Salad Dessert

Jump to Recipe Jump to Video Print Recipe

This is THE BEST Grape Salad dessert recipe of your life! I can't wait for you to make it. This easy grape salad is made in under 15 minutes plus chill time. It tastes like cheesecake and fresh fruit and sweet caramel with a crunch of butter pecans. LITERALLY the bowl will be licked clean when you finish off the grape salad. Crisp grapes tossed in a dreamy and creamy filling and topped with sweet brown sugar and pecans. This is what dreams are made of.

    Why This Recipe Works

We love this grape salad recipe because it is so well loved and so easy to make. Serve this next to a grilled meat, or take it to a barbecue along with some other delicious summer salads like asparagus salad, strawberry pretzel salad, or cucumber salad.

You're going to love it just as much as I do because:

    • It comes together quickly. This recipe is done in about 15 minutes start to finish.
    • Everyone loves it! Kids, adults, teenagers - literally everyone loves this recipe. Its just so darn tasty. Call it a salad, call it dessert - whatever you call it you're going to love it.
    • This fruit salad is different. It's not your standard macaroni or potato salad to bring to a pot luck. This is bursting with fresh crispy grapes and lots of sweetness.

    About The Ingredients

Everything you need for this creamy fruit salad can be purchased at your local grocery store. Here are a few items to note:

    • Grapes - Make sure you purchase SEEDLESS grapes. I like to use 2 varieties of grapes - usually green seedless grapes and red seedless grapes. Each variety of grape has a different taste that adds to the flavor of this salad.
    • Cream cheese - I like to use the full fat cream cheese, but the reduced fat works great too.
    • Sour cream - Just like the cream cheese, I like to use the full fat, but you can do reduced fat or fat free if you'd like.
    • Pantry items - there are a few items you probably have on hand like granulated sugar, brown sugar, crushed pecans, and vanilla extract.

For a complete list of ingredients and amounts, see recipe card below.

    How To Make It

This grape dessert recipe comes together so fast! Let me show you just how to do it!

    Removing grapes from the stem.
    1. The first step is to wash your seedless green grapes and seedless red grapes and remove them from the vine. Set those grapes aside while you make the cream cheese filling. Also make sure your fruit is fresh and ripe.

Pro Tip: How To Remove Grapes From Stem - There are two really easy methods: The first, take your clean green grapes and place them in a large zipper bag. Hold the top of the stem tight to the top of the bag and shake until all the grapes are removed from the stem and in the bag. The second method, take your clean red grapes and place them on a damp towel or paper towel. Cover with a second bowl or paper towel. Gently roll the grapes between the two towels until they come lose from the stem.

    1. In a large mixing bowl add your cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla. Beat until it's smooth and fluffy. Set aside.

Pro Tip: to soften cream cheese, place the completely unwrapped cheese on a microwave-safe plate and microwave it on high for 15 seconds.

Making pecan topping and tossing grapes.
    1. In a small bowl prepare your topping by mixing your brown sugar and chopped pecans together. Set aside.
    2. In your serving bowl, add your grapes.
    1. Add the cream cheese mixture with your washed grapes. Stir so they are combined well.
    2. Add your brown sugar toppings. Now here is the key to what really takes this recipe over the top. The moisture of the cream cheese mixture will start to seep into your brown sugar crust and it creates a crispy caramel flavor. SO GOOD.

    Variations

    • Swap the crust - swap the pecans for crushed walnuts, or try adding graham cracker crumbs to give it even more of the cheesecake flavor.
    • Add Snickers: Have you heard of snickers salad? Like that - you can add chopped Snickers Bars to this recipe.
    • Add berries - This dish tastes great with the addition of strawberries, raspberries or blackberries.
    • Swap out the sour cream - for a higher protein option, swap the sour cream for non fat greek yogurt.

    Pro Kitchen Tips

    • How To Serve - Serve grape salad recipe in a large bowl or 9x13 pan so that the topping is more evenly distributed. It is also best served cold, so chill about 30 minutes before serving.
    • How To Remove Grapes From Stem - There are two really easy methods: The first, take your clean grapes and place them in a large zipper bag. Hold the top of the stem tight to the top of the bag and shake until all the grapes are removed from the stem and in the bag. The second method, take your clean grapes and place them on a damp towel or paper towel. Cover with a second bowl or paper towel. Gently roll the grapes between the two towels until they come lose from the stem.

I recently made this, and everyone loved it. The recipe is easy to make, the amount is more than adequate, low fat ingredients are equally delicious, it allows for creativity, and can be served as a salad or a dessert. A winner recipe!

I sure want to try this, but I’m allergic to pecans. Do you have any suggestions or ideas for a substitution for the pecans? (We are also allergic to walnuts and almonds at our house)

You can omit the nuts and it will still be delicious. Our you could sub granola for a little crunch.

I am also allergic to nuts but I use the heath toffee bits to give it that crunch. My sister-in-law uses crushed pretzels that were baked on parchment paper with butter and a little sugar.
