We wanted to share with you a peek into our So Cal Meet and Greet event we host just a last month. Our goal was to bring together Southern California Bloggers and connect in REAL life. So often we have virtual buddies and friends that we have "known" for years but rarely get the chance to connect in person. We feel there is a lot of value in face to face conversation and enjoying the presence of a person. It was so refreshing to feel the passion of other bloggers and shop owners and gain new perspectives on this virtual media world. There really are some wonderful women behind those shops and blogs.
HUGE thanks to Layer Cake Bakery in Downtown Fullerton. We can't rave enough about this darling Cafe. The atmosphere is amazing and the food lives up to the hype. They were kind enough to host our event and it was wonderful working with them. Not to mention their amazing desserts...crepe cakes(!) If you are in the area be sure to swing but and grab some mango quinoa salad or a rainbow of macaroons.
Also all of the amazing photos were taken by our dear friend and photographer Geri from Photo By Geri. She was a gem to shoot this evening and she did amazing! Her talent never ceases to amaze us.
I love the above picture so much. Carly and Erin are sisters as well as me and Des. Carly's sister Erin has supported us so much in our Oh So journey as well as us cheering her on with her business endeavors. She is the genius behind Mommi and the Mormon Bachelorette we were lucky enough to have her speak with us later in the evening.
With the tables set and gorgeous vases and floral arrangements by Des (she is so talented- tutorial on the vase to come // click here for flower arranging tips ) guest began arriving! The bombshell brunette is Amanda. A sweet friend of ours who makes jewelry... her shop is Tumbled Jewelry and has the most rad CTR rings ever. All of the guest received midi-rings and a few won bangles with the raffle!
I can't tell you how happy it made my heart as the guest arrived and the conversations bloomed. Seriously there was not a dull moment and the women clicked.
Des was such a trooper through this.. her little Oliver was only a few weeks old! One of my favorite guests. We started out with dinner and then listened to Corrine from the popular blog Mint Arrow give some great tips on social media. We have watched her for some time and love the way she puts to use her social media. Some of her tips included being genuine and work hard. Which we couldn't agree with more. It was touching to here her speak and get choked up about how blogging has given her an opportunity to stay at home with her sweet daughter.
Erin Shurtz was our next speaker, talking about pursuing her passion with business. Her story was a little different as she had always planned on being a wife and mother, it just didn't happen as soon as she thought. She put those single years to use working hard on the Mormon Bachelor and learning through every job and opportunity she had. After marrying and becoming pregnant with her first child she began Mommi. Her success in business hasn't stopped. Her advice was to work hard and just go for it! You never know what might be waiting for you down the road!
It was a wonderful evening full of intelligent women and fresh perspectives. Our guest were amazing; bloggers from Steph with Six Sisters Stuff and Leanne Barlow from Ella Apparel to shops like Nena and Co. and Strands. We throughly enjoyed everyone and hope our guest did as well!! Stay tuned for more about the featured products and companies of the evening!
