How does the Instant Pot make a difference?

Pressure cookers cook by building up an intense amount of pressure using heat and steam. When you cook food like this is traps all the flavor inside the food creating intense flavors along with moist and tender food. Which is why the instant pot has become so popular, but also why pressure cooking has been around for decades. The instant pot just simplifies it, by adding timers and alarms.

How to make instant pot applesauce.

The steps are quite simple, but I'm also going to give you some tips to make it really the best applesauce you've ever had.

    bowl of honey crisp apples

    STEP 1: THE APPLES

Clearly apples are the ultimate ingredient for the recipe. You need to have crisp, ultra sweet apples. You can, of course, use your very favorite apples or even a combination of your favorite apples. I like to use honeycrisp and maybe some fuji. Gala are also a great choice too. If you are unsure what apples are the sweetest to your palate buy a variety and have a taste testing session with your kids. Everyone will love it.

STEP 2: PEEL AND CORE THE APPLES

I have found the easiest and fastest way to do this is to use my KitchenAid Spiralizer. In a just a few minutes I had the whole batch of large apples peeled and cored. If you don't have a gadget that can do this, do it by hand with a peeler and slice down around the core.

STEP 3: PLACE APPLES IN INSTANT POT

Place them all in, with 1 cup of water (you always need 1 cup of liquid) and cook high pressure for 10 minutes. Seriously THAT EASY.

When they are done, they will be soft and fall apart easily.

STEP 4: PULSE APPLES IN BLENDER

Pulse the apples in your blender to your desired texture. If you like it a little chunky then only pulse a few times.

    Do I need sugar?

NO! this applesauce is so sweet and the flavor so intense you don't need any sweetener at all! If for some reason your apples weren't as tasty as you expected and you feel you want your applesauce to be sweeter, add 1-3 TBS of sugar when you are pulsing in the blender.

If you want a delicious cookie with no sugar also- make these APPLESAUCE COOKIES! and use this homemade instant pot applesauce in it!

want Cinnamon Applesauce? You can also add that at the blending step too!

    How to store homemade applesauce?

Keep the applesauce in an airtight container in your refridgerator for up to 2 weeks.
