Should I add raw onion to egg salad?

Some people like to add raw onion to their egg salad. The flavor balance in egg salad sandwiches are can be pretty delicate to add straight raw onion. It will overpower all the other flavors of this delicious salad. So I choose a lighter onion flavor like chives or Onion Salt. Garlic salt is the same! It has a light flavorful garlic salt with not overpowering the salad.

    How to make egg salad-

Start by making your hard boiled eggs.

What is the best way to cook hard boiled eggs?

I've had the most success and found cooking eggs in the pressure cooker to be the best fool-proof method. It's fast and simple too. Cook your eggs in 1 cup of water for 5 minutes. Natural release 5 minutes and add to an ice bath for 5 minutes. The shells will peel off  so easy!

Peel your eggs and rinse. Set a side in a large bowl.

    How to cut your eggs

There are a few different ways  to chop your eggs up. A knife of course will work great. You can also use something like a pastry cutter to quickly cut up the eggs.

Quick hack for chopping your ingredients.

But the best hack to cutting all your ingredients is this onion chopper! You can find  inexpensive options on amazon.

It comes with a large grate and a smaller one. The smaller is shown, but if you prefer larger eggs then use a bigger grate.

    Egg salad special sauce.

In a bowl add mayo, mustard and start combining your sauces.

What are healthy substitutes for mayo?

What do I do if I don't like celery?

IF  you are not a fan of celery or dill feel free to leave them out! You dont even need to substitute them with anything.

    Other ideas of add-in's?

    • Pickles are delish!!
    • avocado
    • add bacon crumbled (instead of a layer on the sandwich)
    • carrots
    • olives
