It's birthday season around our house. I have four important b-days to celebrate this week - including my hub. So what better way to have your cake and eat it too, along with your ice cream - than to put both into a milkshake!? Birthday Cake Milkshake will rock your world.
The Cake Shake
My first introduction to the fusion of cake and ice cream was at Portillo's in Buena Park. Des turned me on to this little restaurant - they serve a dang good beef sandwich and are famous for their chocolate cake shakes. Such a treat to eat there! As a matter of fact - that was the last meal I ate before I moved out of CA a few years back - cake shake and everything. Now I'm back in socal and have been craving this place like mad.
Now, my FAVORITE cake is Funfetti. Yep - that box mix, sprinkles vanilla cake that you serve at little kid birthday parties. Love it. So naturally, when I thought about making my own cake shake it was using Funfetti cake. Cupcakes to be exact. Little fun fact about me -- I love cupcakes, but don't care for a slice of cake. Weird, right? I haven't been able to figure out why...but it is what it is, ha ha.
I tossed an entire cupcake, frosting and all, ice cream, milk and vanilla extract in my Blendtec and created this irresistible, creamy, cupcakey birthday dessert. Mmmm mmmm mmm is all I have to say.
