They're not just for a holiday side but make them on the regular! You'll be so happy you did. Put these baked candied sweet potatoes on your menu!

WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE BAKED CANDIED SWEET POTATOES WITH BACON AND MAPLE

    Ingredients you need:

    • 3 lb's sweet potatoes about 3 med-large potatoes
    • bacon cut up
    • maple syrup
    • pecans
    • spices- chili powder, cumin, salt

HOW TO MAKE BAKED CANDIED SWEET POTATOES WITH BACON

I LOVE how incredible easy and fast these are. Basically the oven does all the work. Start by washing your sweet potatoes and cutting off any bad spots.

CAN YOU EAT SWEET POTATO SKINS?

YES! You don't need to peel if you want to skip that step. The skins add great fiber and some textures. If the skin is thick you can use a peeler to peel it down a little. OR peel the skin all together it is up to you.

Chop or slice the sweet potatoes. Try to make them all even, so they cook evenly.

Now in your bowl add your

    1. Maple syrup
    2. Spices
    3. Pecans
    4. chopped bacon
    • Stir all together until evenly coated.
    • Lay on a single layer baking sheet on a parchment paper

BAKING YOUR SWEET POTATOES BACON AND PECANS

On a greased sheet pan pour your sweet potatoes onto the pan. Keep everything in a single layer and flat.

    TIPS FOR ROASTING SWEET POTATOES:

    1. Cook at a high heat. I like to cook my sweet potatoes at 425. This allows the sweet potatoes to crisp up. Otherwise they will be soft and mushy.
    2. Stir 1-2 times throughout cooking. This will help your sweet potatoes and bacon to cook through and on all sides but will ALSO help spread the delicious flavors.
    3. Use foil to help with clean up.

After 15-20 minutes YOU MUST stir the sweet potatoes. This will help the bacon grease to coat and crisp the sweet potatoes flavor them.

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN THE SWEET POTATOES ARE DONE?

The sweet potatoes are done when the edges are starting to brown, the outside is nice and crisp and the potatoes are fork tender. It usually takes about 20-30 minutes to cook these sweet potatoes.

    Serve Immediately while hot.
