    WHY CHOOSE LAMB?

Besides that it brings an air of  sophistication to any gathering , lamb is delicious, tender flavorful. It's a wonderful alternative to others meats. American Lamb is raised by over 80,000 farmer and rancher families with a connection to caring for to the land, the animals, and the local communities they serve across America. When you choose American Lamb, you support the nation’s shepherds and their families and help to sustain working farmland and farm communities.

WHAT INGREDIENTS DO I NEED FOR THIS LAMB CHOP RECIPE

    • baguette
    • hummus
    • lamb
    • homemade orange cranberry sauce (recipe below)
    • fresh parsley
    • balsamic glaze
    • olive oil
    • garlic
    • lemon

WHAT KIND OF LAMB DO I BUY

Pick up at your local grocery store a nice boneless sirloin lamb chop. I had about a pound and it really far for these lamp appetizers.

    LAMB CHOP MARINADE

Step one is to marinate your lamb. This will help keep the juices in the lamb and well as give a nice delicious savory flavor. Coat the lamb in fresh garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, fresh parsley and some sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.

Place it in an air tight container and let marinate over night. Remove from fridge about 30-60 minutes before getting ready to cook so the meat can come to room temp.

If you are in a rush, allow at least 30 minutes at room temp.

    MAKE YOUR HOMEMADE CRANBERRY SAUCE

While your lamb in marinating make your cranberry sauce and set aside to cool.

In a pan combine all your ingredients

    • orange juice
    • sugar
    • cinnamon stick
    • cranberries

bring to a boil and let simmer for 10 minutes. Then remove from heat.

    THE BREAD!!

Now it's almost time to assemble but you need to toast your baguette. You can use french bread, or even small pieces of pita bread. But I like the sturdiness and small bite size of the baguette.

Drizzle with olive oil and broil for a few minutes. Just until they are toasted.

HOW TO COOK THIS LAMB CHOP RECIPE

For these sirloin lamb chops were going to sear them on on the stove top. You can choose to grill them if you live in a climate where you can grill.

    To cook these lamb chops

    1. heat up olive oil in a pan on medium heat. You want the oil to be hot.
    2. Remove your lamb from the marinade and place on the hot skillet.
    3. Cook for 3 minutes on each side.

Check the temp of the lamb at the point.  My lamb was smaller and thin, it was cooked. But if you have larger chops or thicker chops you may need to cook them longer. Turn the temp down and cover with a lid. Cook for about 5 more minutes on each side.

WHAT TEMPERATURE DO I COOK LAMB CHOPS TO?

A good internal temp for lamb chops is 145 degrees. This will be put the chops at med-rare. You can pull them off the heat a couple of degrees before that and then let the lamb rest. ALWAYS let the lamb rest.

If you are ever unsure about cooking times with lamb here is a great resource.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE YOUR LAMB CHOP APPETIZER

    1. Place your bread on a tray, spread hummus.
    2. add sliced lamb
    3. top with cranberry sauce
    4. drizzle with balsamic glaze
    5. garnish with chopped parsley

    SERVE IMMEDIATELY

These lamb chop appetizers are best if served immediately.

    HOW DO I STORE LEFTOVERS?

If you have leftover assembled lamb appetizers you can place them in an air tight container for a day or two.

If you have leftover lamb, that has not been assembled- keep them separate. Store the ingredients separate and in air tight containers in the fridge and they will last a lot longer. Cooked meat will last up to 5 days if refrigerated.

    WHERE CAN I BUY LAMB?

There are a couple of ways to find out where to buy lamb

    1. ask your local butcher. If they don't have one they can tell you where to get it or when they will have it in stock.
    2. fill out this where to buy form and they will send a complete list of grocers and butchers in your area.

My lamb is simple truth which is a brand carried in Kroger stores. If you live by a Kroger check or ask their grocers/ butchers.
