Baked Brie Appetizer

This Baked Brie Appetizer is a must-make for any gathering, from dinner parties to holiday celebrations. Gooey, melty brie is topped with a warm mixture of apples and golden raisins, then finished with pecans for some crunch. Serve it as the star of a charcuterie board or simply enjoy with crackers for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 small apple Preferably McIntosh, Cortland or Granny Smith
  • cup golden raisins
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 4- inch brie
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 pieces bacon cooked and crumbled. about ¼ cup
  • optional chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Core and chop apple.
  • Place apple in saucepan with raisins, salt and cider and boil gently until apples are tender but not mushy, about 2 min.
  • Put Brie in an ovenproof dish slightly larger than the brie.
  • Strain the liquid from the apple/raisin mixture and place on top of brie.
  • Add pecans on top if using.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  • Serve with crackers.

Notes

  • The brie is done when the top is soft to the touch, rather than firm. Be careful not to overbake or it can collapse or ooze out of the rind.
  • Don’t remove the rind before baking. It helps hold the brie together and is meant to be eaten.
