Cast Iron Skillet Cookie

  • 1 cup butter melted
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 ¼ cups flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 ½ cups semi sweet chocolate chips in various sizes (chunk, morsels, minis)
  • Ice cream and chocolate sauce for topping


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In your kitchenaid stand mixer combine butter and sugars and cream together.
  • Add eggs and vanilla, mix to combine.
  • Add flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix until combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Divide into thirds and smooth each portion into an 8.5 inch skillet.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes until center is set and edges are golden. See notes for baking times depending on skillet size.
  • Top with ice cream and chocolate syrup.
  • Serve immediately.

Options For Cast Iron Skillets
4 inch individual skillets - these will take about 12-14 minutes to bake.
8 inch cast iron skillet - bake for 18-20 minutes.
10 inch cast iron skillet - bake for 16-18 minutes.

Can I make these ahead?
You can make these up to 24 hours ahead.  Refrigerate in an airtight container.  Bring to room temperature before baking.
How long do skillet cookies last?
If you forgo that ice cream - skillet cookies last about 2 days. Store wrapped in plastic wrap on the counter. You can reheat by placing foil over the top and baking for 5 minutes.
