Notes

VARIATIONS
  • Garlic bread - Why not add minced garlic mixed with the butter for an extra garlicy, cheesy bread.
  • Toppings - Try topping with chives cooked bacon pieces.
  • Cheese swap - Add other good melting cheeses like Monterey jack, pepper jack or mozzarella cheese.
  • Pepper swap - Try swapping the green chilis out for diced jalapeños. Or try adding crushed red pepper flakes for some extra spice.
FAQS
Are baguettes and French bread the same?
French bread is wider than a baguette, it also has a softer crust. French bread is preferred over a baguette for garlic bread or chilli cheese toast.
How long does this recipe last?
This green chili toast can be stored, wrapped in plastic wrap, in the fridge for 1-2 days. Reheat in the microwave. However, it is best fresh out of the oven.
Can I make this in the air fryer?
The short answer is yes. Because a French loaf is so large - it is a bit easier to make this in the oven. But if you prefer the air fryer - I recommend slicing the French bread into slices, rather than lengthwise. Spread the mayo spread over bread slices and sprinkle with cheese. Place slices into the airfryer, and cook at 350 degrees for 3-5 minutes until bubbly and toasted.
