Philly Cheesesteak

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 onion onion thinly sliced
  • 8 oz. mushrooms sliced (optional)
  • 1 pound rare angus beef deli meat chopped
  • 4-6 oz. cream cheese
  • sliced provolone or swiss cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 2 Tablespoon butter room-temperature
  • 6 hoagie rolls

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in large frying pan. Sauté bell pepper and onion 5-7 minutes, adding mushrooms halfway through, or until slightly soft.
  • Add cream cheese, soy sauce and garlic salt to pan and cook, stirring occasionally until melted and mixed well.
  • Stir in roast beef.
  • Butter open faces of hoagie rolls, broil until toasted or heat frying pan on medium-high. Place buttered faces of hoagie rolls down on hot frying pan and heat about 2 minutes, or until the bread is crisp.
  • Spoon cheesesteak mixture onto bun, top with sliced provolone or swiss, season with salt and pepper, and set in broiler until cheese melted. Serve immediately.
