THE BEST SHEPHERD'S PIE RECIPE

Mashed Potatoes ▢1 Tbs salt ▢3 large potatoes quartered ▢2 Tbs butter ▢½ teaspoon salt ▢¼ teaspoon pepper ▢¼ to ⅓ cup milk Meat Filling ▢1 Tbs olive oil ▢1 large onion chopped ▢½ cup carrot grated or diced ▢2 pound ground American Lamb ▢1 Tbs chopped fresh parsley ▢1 clove garlic finely chopped ▢½ teaspoon dried thyme ▢2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce ▢1 tbsp salt ▢3 tablespoon tomato paste ▢2 cups of cheddar cheese

INGREDIENTS

In a large stock pot, bring water to a boil; stir in salt. Add potatoes and boil gently for about 15 to 20 minutes or until they are soft.

STEP 1

Drain off water and add butter and salt and pepper. Mash the potatoes, adding enough milk to make a smooth mixture. Set aside.

STEP 2

Preheat oven the 350 degrees. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat for 1 minute. Add the onion and stir-fry until tender.

STEP 3

Stir in ground beef; then add carrot, parsley, garlic, and thyme. Cook until lamb is thoroughly browned, stirring frequently. Add Worcestershire sauce and tomato paste stir well. Spread the meat mixture evenly in the bottom of a deep pie dish.

STEP 4

Top with mashed potatoes and cheese.

STEP 5

Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes covered with Foil, remove foil and bake another 10 minutes. Enjoy!
