Homemade Chipotle Salsa Recipe

Fresh, flavorful, and with a kick – this chipotle salsa recipe is one that will put your local Baja restaurant to shame.  Made in about 30 seconds in the blender – you will NEVER buy store bought salsa again with this easy recipe.

How Do I Make This Chipotle Salsa Recipe?

Let me give you the run down on this salsa – it honestly takes about 30 seconds in your blender!
  1. Add canned fire roasted tomatoes to your blender jar.
  2. Add roma tomatoes.
  3. Add jalapeño.
  4. Add onion.
  5. Add garlic.
  6. Add chipotle pepper.
  7. Add adobo sauce.
  8. Add cilantro.
  9. Add lime juice.
  10. Add salt.
  11. Blend until smooth.
  12. Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

What Kind of Tomatoes Are Good for Tomatoes?

Look for a tomato that doesn’t have a lot of seeds – that’s why I like to use Roma Tomatoes.  San Marzano tomotoes are also a good option.

How Long Does Chipotle Salsa Keep?

Leftovers will keep in an airtight container for about a week in the fridge.  This is a fresh salsa, not a canned salsa – so make sure you store it in the refrigerator.

Ingredients
  • 14 oz fire roasted tomatoes canned
  • 3 Roma Tomatoes
  • 1 Onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 whole jalapeno seeds removed
  • 4 chipotle peppers in adobo plus 2 TBSP of the adobo sauce
  • 1 bunch of cilantro
  • 1 lime
  • salt to taste
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and puree.
  2. Transfer to a container and refrigerate.

  1. This salsa recipe is making my mouth LITERALLY water. The fire roasted tomatoes and adobo are a nice variation to my usual recipe. Yum.

  2. this salsa looks so good! My husband lived in Mexico for two years, and always complains that my salsa isn’t “authentic”, haha! This one looks authentic. ;) Also, that teal blender (and the lime one!) are rad.
