I have the Flavor Infusion Pitcher and love it. It works perfectly for today’s infused water recipe. I want to tell you where this inspired recipe came from, but to do so we have to back up a few months. Here is where it gets personal…

Last Thanksgiving, we spent the holiday vacationing with our family at a resort in Arizona. It was warm, relaxing and good food. When my little family arrived home, we were hit with a horrid stomach bug. It went through every person including my sweet baby. After a week or so we were hit again. And then again.. then colds struck. And then ear infections in the babies. Then RSV + pink eye. Our home was sick. And I couldn’t bleach and clean fast enough. After over 2 1/2 months of being sick I was so so done.

My children’s immune systems were shot. So I talked to my friend who is a family physician to get ideas on how to help my poor kids out. She suggested the expected- healthy diet, plenty of sleep, water, vitamins, ect. All of which I felt we were doing well. Then she shared with me what she does with her kids- every day she gives them a little elderberry juice mixed in water. Elderberry is known for its immuno-stimulating qualities and full of anti-ozidants and all sorts of good stuff. She swears by it.

I had never heard of elderberry so did a little research and found that many sources said the same, so I decided to give it a go. I found some elderberry extract at a local health foods store and have been mixing a little in water for my kids. It tastes like a grape juice. I add a 1/4 cup to my Takeya pitcher and infuse it with mint, plenty of oranges and other fruits. My kids think they are drinking a sweet juice rather than just water. It’s the best!  What ever I could do to help their little immune systems get a boost!

The Flavor Infusion Pitcher works perfectly for this sort of drink. Add as many fruits as you like to the Fruit Infuser and twist it on to the lid. I layered oranges, apples, raspberries, and fresh mint with the elderberry water.  Oh it’s divine! The citrus and sweet elderberry mix are just right. Not to mention the health benefits of the elderberry with all of the vitamin C from the oranges.. it truly is natures medicine!

That fruit is just insanely gorgeous. Those oranges were just a juicy and sweet as they look!

After adding your fruits, twist on tight and insert into the pitcher filled with water. Then admire how gorgeous your drink looks and allow it some time to fuse flavors. Even if you are a simple lemon water person.. this pitcher is for you. The Fruit Infuser insert just makes life easy.

When your water has had sufficient time to marinate, poor a big glass and drink. So refreshing and healthy! My kids are all over their Elderberry juice and love making fruit concoctions. In case you are wondering, we are over all our bugs! Was it the Elderberry? I don’t know. But I do think it helped and we needed all the help we could get! Don’t forget to check out Takeya’s smart products and use the 20% off everything code while you can!
