I've been looking forward to this post for a while now! We were invited to share in the excitement of Martha Stewart's 7th season of Martha Bakes on PBS and give you a peek at one of her recipes - this Cranberry Tart. I don't know about you but aside from my mother's kitchen, I learned to cook from TV! I've spent many days watching various food celebrities whip up desserts and dinners. Watching the process and learning techniques has transformed my own culinary skills. I'm so looking forward . . .
So I like pumpkin rolls, alot. Every fall I make oodles of them. Wrap them up and store them in the fridge, cut a slice or two for guests. Maybe a quick after school snack for the kids. They are awesome. Best part they are pretty simple to make. Pumpkin rolls make great gifts for the holiday's or as a dessert for a party! They are pretty simple to make as well, just mix up the batter and pour into a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake! Then invert onto a tea towel dusted with . . .
We recently had the opportunity to assist Megan, from E.Interiors in her collaboration with World Market. Megan is someone I love! She not only has impeccable style and taste but has a generous heart, is smart in business and loving mother & friend. World Market approached her for a holiday entertaining post and she asked if I would be interested in providing food! I couldn't turn her down. Over on her post you can find tips and tricks for entertaining during holiday, but for this post I . . .
After Thanksgiving I always crave something light...something refreshing and simple. A few years ago I enjoyed a salad with craved turkey at a local restaurant in Utah that was so stinking good! It had roasted turkey, dried cranberries, sunflower seed, avocado, mozzarella cheese, and a pink poppyseed dressing. It was heaven. This is my version of that carved turkey salad - and I promise it will hit the spot after that heavy Thanksgiving meal! If you are gettin' a cravin' for this . . .
Tis the season for pie!!!! With the holidays right around the corner I wanted to offer up an easy alternative to your traditional pie. A slab pie has all of the components of a regular pie, except it feeds a crowd. A slab pie is perfect for a big family gathering or a friends-giving. I created this recipe from start to finish with my KitchenAid Stand Mixer. My kitchenAid mixer is a staple in my kitchen. Besides cakes and cookies, I love to shred chicken and make dips and frostings in . . .
Around my house we take Halloween pretty seriously. We have more Halloween decorations than Christmas, we start planning costumes in July, and we always have a big adult Halloween party. We really look forward to some rare alone time with our friends sans kids. It gives us a chance to laugh and talk without being interupted and allows us to have tons and tons of fun! My husband and I have been throwing this party for about 11 years - so we have this down to a science! I want to share a . . .
I have a really fun recipe for you today! This is a tropical twist on the classic hotdog - perfect for a hot dog bar this 4th of July. If you didn't catch my 4th of July tables cape post - you must take a look for some fun party ideas! A few years ago my husband and I took a trip to Kauai. Near our hotel was a little hot dog shack called Puka Dog. We ate there on a whim and we were hooked! We had to go back again before we left. They are unique in the fact that their hotdog buns are . . .
The 4th of July is right around the corner - so I wanted to share with you what I have planned for my celebration! Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love being surrounded by friends and family while celebrating our country. I love a pretty presentation (who doesn't?!) and red, white, and blue are some of my favorite colors to dress up a table with! I started out with a festive tablecloth that I found while browsing the aisles at Home Goods. All of the tableware you see . . .
I love grilling. I love that it is fast, easy and leaves me with one less pan to clean. I'm lucky and live in Southern California where the weather allows me to pretty much grill all year round, and I totally do. Even if I lived in a climate with cold weather, I'd probably try to grill all year round. Do you do that? Do you grill? Do you hold back? What stops you? Skill? Knowledge? Don't currently own a grill? You don't even have to have a fancy grill. Mine is small, inexpensive grill that fits . . .
Have you ever made your own ham glaze? If not, it's time to give it a try! Making a homemade ham glaze is so easy and chance are you have all the ingredients for this glaze in your cupboards now. I'll also let you in on a little tip to getting a nice thick glaze on that ham! For this glaze, I used pineapple juice, brown sugar, and seasonings. I was cooking for a large group that included children so chose to keep it simple and sweet. Sweet pairs amazingly with a savory ham! I was really . . .
