Mock Champagne (non-alcoholic)

I don't drink, but I always want something special to ring in the new year.  Something bubbly and different.  Something in a fancy glass.  So - I came up with this idea.  Not only is this mock champagne kid (and adult) friendly, but it is delicious and perfect for that special occasion. This New Years Eve try this bubbly beverage with your family or your festive party.  Mock Champagne is a cinch to whip up!  There are only three ingredients in the recipe.  You heard me right - three ingredients!  Ginger ale. white … [Read more...]

Vermont Steamer

Have you ever had a steamer before? Do you like them? I kinda do. If you don't know what a "steamer" is.. it's basically milk that has been heated with added flavor. I once-upon-a-time worked in a Sandwich Shop.. Tony's in Walla Walla, WA. (best panini's if you are in the area). Anyhow they had a little coffee bar that we would experiment with making all sorts of concoctions. I loved to make steamers, the milk was the perfect base for any crazy flavor mix I was in the mood for. Now I get my flavor fill at with a … [Read more...]

Cranberry Spiced Cider

I just love warm cidery drinks. They don't leave me as heavy and calories down like I feel after a cup of hot chocolate (don't get me wrong there are many times when a frothy hot cocoa is calling my name too), I just feel warmed and refreshed. It's even better when a blanket and or book (or my favorite TV show hehe ) is involved. My cute friend, who is also gave me this cranberry salsa recipe to share, made this Cranberry Cider for a church event last Thanksgiving. The other day when I was making this for an … [Read more...]

Wassail

It is the season where a warm beverage is the perfect addition to a hay ride, trick or treating, or snuggling up with a movie.  This classic Wassail is so simple and will make your house smell like heaven. A friend gave me this recipe after I drank about a gallon of it at an event.  Something about this simple combo of flavors is addicting and delicious. If you prefer to wrap the spices in cheesecloth rather than steeping them loose, that works great!  I tend to just pour mine thru a colander when it is … [Read more...]

La Croix Apricot Fusion

Have you guys jumped on the  bandwagon yet?  One of my biggest weaknesses is soda!  I love an icy cold soda at about 3pm - with a straw.  Many times I've tried to kick this craving with so much luck!  When I heard about La Croix I thought it was something I could get behind and try and slowly get off of my soda addiction.  La Croix is a sparkling water with a flavor essence.  They have lots and lots of flavors to choose from.  Today I'm drinking apricot which is the perfect summer flavor. Strawberry Basil Lemonade

Strawberry Basil Lemonade. Does that sound a little unusual to you? It's kind of different. When you first  drink a sip of the lemonade you're hit with a sweet strawberry sensation, then comes the bubbles (if you used sparkling water) and then the basil, followed with minty, refreshing aftertaste in your mouth! I recently served this at a dinner party and everyone asked for the recipes. They LOVED it. Blended Coconut Pineapple Tea with Boba // Takeya USA

Years ago my husband I lived in Long Beach, CA.  There was this little restaurant in a strip mall called Cha For Tea.  I still crave that place.  They had the most delicious blended drinks with boba. They also had these crispy dumplings that were to die for.  When I was developing this recipe I kept thinking of Cha - and wanted to re-create what I used to order there. The base of my drink is the Coconut Lime Rooibos from Takeya.  I'm an herbal tea drinker, so this is right up my alley.  I love keeping a pitcher of … [Read more...]

Coconut Hot Cocoa

I really love coconut.  I love recipes with coconut in them, and I love the smell of coconut.  So when a local tea shop started serving coconut hot chocolate I was all over it. I thought I could pretty easily re-create that hot chocolate at home, and I was right! I started with canned coconut milk.  You can opt for the coconut milk in a carton, but I think the canned has a little stronger coconut flavor.  I added in some cows milk, and also some chocolate!  I went with chocolate chips, because I wanted it … [Read more...]

Birthday Cake Shake

It's birthday season around our house.  I have four important b-days to celebrate this week - including my hub.  So what better way to have your cake and eat it too, along with your ice cream - than to put both into a milkshake!? My first introduction to the fusion of cake and ice cream was at Portillo's in Buena Park.  Des turned me on to this little restaurant - they serve a dang good beef sandwich and are famous for their chocolate cake shakes.  Such a treat to eat there!  As a matter of fact - that was the … [Read more...]

Creamy Orange Delight {Orange Julius Copycat}

One of my favorite little treats when I wander around the mall is an original orange julius.  I love those sweet, frothy, cold perfect drinks  - - and they are becoming harder and harder to come by.   Several years back a friend shared this recipe and it was love at first sip.  It is so darn close to the original orange julius that you'll feel like you're pushing your stroller around the mall, window shopping, and sipping on the real deal. And the best part?  You whip this up with things you have in your … [Read more...]

Easter Egg Cup Tutorial

These cups.... oh these cups. Let me tell you, I had this grandiose idea to make these egg cups. But I was sure, POSITIVELY sure there was no way they would work in the end. I couldn't find the right plastic cups (I thought this kind would for sure crack when drilling) There were holes...everywhere...how are they not going to leak. c'mon. But, step by step they worked. Despite not finding the "right" eggs, these were awesome no cracklage when drilled. The hot glue really did hold the water in, without leaking (although … [Read more...]

Shamrock Ice Cream Soda

Not too long ago, my family and I dined at a restaurant called Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor.  Have you heard of it?  It was popular when I was a kid and has recently made a come back.  While we thought the food was mediocre the dessert was pure heaven!  I read their long list of desserts over and over and finally decided on a Mint-Chip Ice Cream Soda.  So retro - but with a modern twist. When that baby came out I was in sugar heaven!  So much so, that I thought about that dessert for days.  And then I told Desi … [Read more...]

Dandelion Root, Cranberry, Lime Tea (Herbal)

After going over my pictures I took of this Herbal Tea, I realized that I love my lime tree. I took so many pictures of it. Oops. I love sipping warm drinks. She would also take me to Taco Bell for breakfast, but that's besides the point. I have horrible eating habits!  Being Mormon, I dont drink Tea, but I do drink Herbal Tea. Choffy

If I could have it my way, I would have some form of chocolate EVERY night. My friend Jodee introduced me to Choffy. It's so good, I had to share it with everyone. I would describe it as a mix between coffee and hot chocolate. It has the looks of coffee but is made from 100% cacao (cocoa) beans. It only has small traces of caffeine (like all chocolate) which is awesome! You won't receive that caffeine high and then crash a few hours later. It keeps you feeling good! It contains ZERO fat, sugar, chemicals, and dairy. … [Read more...]

Homemade Sweet Grape Juice (no juicer required)

Juicing is all the rage right now and I totally get it! I am juice lover myself. I would way rather drink juice than water any old day. My kids as well.. and when I shop for juice I am always amazed at how pricey it is- how pricey the good, natural kind is! It can be killer on a budget with 3 kids and a momma who gulp it down. We don't own a juicer (yet). But I do have a Blendtec. And yes my friends, you can make juice in a Blendtec. And I'm sure a blender would get the job done as well.
