Let me begin with a little introduction. I dont know really know Kelsey. She is a friend of a friend....maybe I could say, a dear friend of a dear friend to me. So last Christmas I was sooo disappointed when my dear friend wasn't answering my texts and wasn't available to go to lunch or hang out for bit when I went home for the holdiay. I soon learned that she was elsewhere with her friend who needed her much more than me. A few months later I noticed Kelsey on instagram and so out of curiousity . . .
Fall and pumpkin go hand in hand right? I always love whipping up pumpkin cake, pumpkin muffins, and pumpkin pasta when the cooler weather rolls around...but my very favorite pumpkin recipe is cookies!!! Traditionally pumpkin cookies are deliciously sweetened with chocolate chips. Desi's pumpkin cookie recipe is killer - I've tried and love!!! Today I want to share another pumpkin cookie love -- brown sugar iced pumpkin cookies. This is my grandma's recipe, and I grew up eating . . .
Brown Is Better "Shampoo is bettuh. I go on first and clean the hair! Conditionuh is bettuh. I leave the hair silky and smooth! Oh, really foo?! Really! Stop lookin at me, swan!" Have y'all tried my Brown Butter Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies? I teased you with these on insta for about a month or two a while back; not because I like to mess with y'all (although I do), but because I was perfecting the recipe. My friends and neighbors had a lotta cookies. I sent out a lotta texts "makin . . .
Brown butter--I've seen it all over other food blogs, in pasta sauces, in cupcakes and cookies. Well dang. Musn't I try it? I must. I did. You must. So I read up on it quite a bit and about the fine line between browned butter and burnt butter. The first time I did it, I burnt the bits. That's because I didn't stir the butter, I just swirled it in the pan. I highly recommend using a whisk to stir it continuously. Cut the butter up into 1-2 T cubes so that it melts evenly and quickly. it . . .
mmmm.. I"m really trying hard to come up with the best way to tell you all about my high school days with Jolyn. Should I sell you our secrets about our "out of towners" (our friends that were boys in the nearby towns, wink wink) OR should I tell you about the very inapproprate jokes that were made when we played balderdash. Maybe, the pranks. no. I'd like to keep my records clean, haha. I wish I could tell you about what a good friend she was, always there . . .
Last year, my baby turned one. Contrary to my husband's belief, this is a BIG. DEAL. Like we were gonna party and people were gonna come and dote on my beautiful, big boy 1-year-old (I may or may not have gotten choked up during the "Happy Birthday" song). I decided on the mustache theme, and immediately went to Etsy to begin ordering supplies. I needed a bunch of die cut mustaches to glue onto straws and wooden dowels for photobooth props. I found Lynda over at TwentySix33 Creations and ordered . . .
Oatmeal White Chocolate Cookies I want to start out setting the record straight about these recipes. It is not my recipe. This is a cookie recipe I have been anticipating for months.....which says a lot about me because I am not a cookie feen. not a cooke lover. I am not tempted by cookies much at all. ....not that I don't have a small addiction to sugary things, just that my desire just doesn't lie within cookies. Ironic right? for a cookie . . .
Who doesn't love to get a little gingerbread man as part of their massive intake of sugary gifts around the holidays? They're usually decorated pretty cute, and really are the icon of Christmas cookies. *the largest gingerbread man made measures 20 feet tall and 1,308 pounds *it has it's own fairy tale, The Gingerbread Man ('Run, run, as fast as you can; you can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man') *in the famous Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker, there's a whole army of the little . . .
First of all... shout out to my hubby who is turning 30!! on 12/12/12!!! Only one in a lifetime :) Now on with the cookies.. Well, I love Chocolate. And I love Coconut. So I love these cookies!! (nice deductive reasoning right there) These truly are my favorite cookie. Not because when I eat one I am like WOW! that is a once-in-a-lifetime-cookie, more like Oh! Hi there my two buddies. Missed you and your so tasty kinda cookie. Lets have a glass of milk kinda cookie. And invite our friend . . .
Cookie Exchanges are a fond memory of mine. My grandma hosted a HUGE cookie exchange every year. They went all out and baked 1 dozen cookies for each person in attendance. I remember my mom coming home with and entire laundry basket full of plates of cookies. That is heaven for a little kid. I remember going with my mom on a few occasions when my dad was working and just drooling over all the cookies. I also felt super special being there because it was a no-kids event...but with it being . . .
