We really had no idea what to name this dip. When it was given to us, it was just given as a recipe. So, because it came from our beautiful Southern friend we named it kinda after her, Southern Dip.
Years ago i was spending and evening with a good friend and she introduced me to a very delicious southern dip. She served it up to me hot with tortilla chips and my kids an dI could not stop eating it. This southern dip is especially a crowd pleaser with med! It’s got all the good stuff!! Sausage, veggies and cream cheese! (Rotel counts as veggies, right?)
Who doesn’t like sausage?
It’s gotta be a close second to bacon right? The sausage mixed with a bottle of Rotel tomatoes is what gives it a little kick. If you want a lot of heat, buy spicy sausage and the “hot” Rotel tomatoes. We stick to mild all around and it has plenty of flavor and spicy for our taste.
Because this dip is incredibly simple to make it’s a go-to party dip. If I’m hosting a large party, I’ll definitely double the recipe! It’s cooks up really quickly and is a great dip to put in the crock pot to keep warm. Serve it with a bag of your favorite tortilla chips, and maybe even some pickled or fresh jalenpos! This southern dip tastes amazing and such a crowd pleaser.
