Serving through meals and food is one of my favorite ways to help others. It's been one of the most effective ways I personally could serve over the years in many ways. Over our married years we have not had much money to donate, or time, or resources- but! I do have food. I have a love and appreciation for what food can do. It can heal and bring comfort. It can alleviate so many burdens, and EVERYONE needs food. We have been participating in the LDS.org #lighttheworld campaign. My family . . .
Today we have a special treat for you AND a friend of your choice! With the idea of service in mind we decided that we would give you an opportunity to serve someone in need. You get to win all of these amazing prizes. We will send you two of everything. Keep one for yourself and give the other to someone in need. How cool is that?! Can you say Merry Christmas?! And thank you to all of the amazing companies that donated to this giveaway. Their generosity is greatly appreciated! You all . . .
Today we are starting a holiday series that I have been wanting to do for literally years. I began pitching the idea of a service series years ago, but the time just never seemed right. A few months ago, we began planning our holiday posts and I decided this was the year! You might remember Des's post from last week with her Almond Poppyseed Bread- we were so lucky to collaborate with the LDS church and introduce their Christmas campaign #Light the World! The timing of our service series was . . .
This time of year I get all sorts of ideas for elaborate dinners, perfect presents, cookies baking in the oven, and a Pinterest-worthy decorated home. Let's get real for a second. No one can have all of those things and still sleep. For this reason I love meals like this rosemary chicken and potatoes. This entire meal is made in one pan! The meal turns out elegant and beautiful, while the prep time is around 10 minutes. When I make this Rosemary Chicken and Potatoes meal it is a huge hit! . . .
Next week we have some BIG, exciting posts planned + some really great goodies. If you have been a loyal reader of OSD for a while you know that during the holidays we like to a big giveaway for you. Sometimes several separate big items, sometimes 1 grand giveaway. This year we are changing things up. It's not just a giveaway! It will be a whole week of tips, tricks, recipe on how to SERVE others through food! We are surrounded by people all day everyday who are always in need of something. . . .
I've been dying to go to this restaurant in Utah that makes their pasta carbonara table side. They flambé the inside of a giant almost-hollowed-out parmesan cheese wheel (like bigger than you and your date's heads combined), pour in the hot pasta along with the raw eggs and everything else, and stir stir stir until it's all cooked and creamy and cheesy. UGH. I die. I really wish I had a giant parmesan cheese wheel. But since I don't have a giant parmesan cheese wheel, I opted to make my . . .

So I like pumpkin rolls, alot. Every fall I make oodles of them. Wrap them up and store them in the fridge, cut a slice or two for guests. Maybe a quick after school snack for the kids. They are awesome. Best part they are pretty simple to make. Pumpkin rolls make great gifts for the holiday's or as a dessert for a party! They are pretty simple to make as well, just mix up the batter and pour into a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake! Then invert onto a tea towel dusted with . . .
We recently had the opportunity to assist Megan, from E.Interiors in her collaboration with World Market. Megan is someone I love! She not only has impeccable style and taste but has a generous heart, is smart in business and loving mother & friend. World Market approached her for a holiday entertaining post and she asked if I would be interested in providing food! I couldn't turn her down. Over on her post you can find tips and tricks for entertaining during holiday, but for this post I . . .
I recently ordered this salad at Goodfella's during a busy day at work. Spinach, bruschetta, grilled zucchini and chicken, capers, parm, and, wait for it......pasta! My co-worker and I shared it and after we both commented on how much we loved the penne in the salad! Salad? Good. Carbs? Even better. I went to Walmart and picked up a box of La Moderna penne. This stuff is golden, find it here!. It's a high-protein pasta, held together nicely after the perfect al-dente cook, has a . . .
