As many of you know, last weekend we had the chance to attend Natural Products Expo West, and we are finally sharing the inside story of the wild weekend! Ok…Ok… you all know we are not that wild. I mean we all do have loads of kids :) In our preview post I explained what Expo West is and why we were attending. Today I want to share a few of the amazing products we tested as well as highlighting companies we were able to mingle with! We will also share with you our experience and what it might be like to attend the expo yourself.
The sun, as well as hundreds of other attendees and over 600 hundred business greeted us that morning with so much energy! Definately a great way to start a day. Now I want you to understand something. This expo truly is enormous. In the 2 days we spent there we probably didn’t cover half of the show or even see half of the booths we wanted to. As soon as you walk on to the grounds, product after product are being practically shoved into your hands. We arrived about 5 mins before this picture was taken and we were already being stocked up with samples and bags.
From there we hit up the press room where Carly ate crickets… yes that’s right… our vegetarian ate crickets. hah! In case you are wondering, the press room is a large area where only “press” members (reporters, journalists, photographers, bloggers etc.) who have been approved are allowed to enter. Here we are supplied with an area for interviewing, charging phones, couches (sitting is a luxury), drinks, and allow exclusive access to certain products. One of which was the Berry Breeze.. quite an amazing little contraption that will be doing a more in-depth review on in the near future.
The press area was sponsored by the stellar company LUVO. Luvo maybe a new company, but they are taking the industry by storm. Already partnering with Delta Airlines to bring passengers healthy snack alternatives while traveling. Luvo’s specialty is their gourmet frozen entrees… and I mean gourmet. Not to mention organic and fresh. They are frozen with care so they reheat and plate perfectly right out of the package. In the video below you can see how the Orange Mango Chicken slides right out of the package.
As part of the We.Blog group, we were invited to a special luncheon hosted by LUVO. We were able to sample all of their entrees.. the flat bread was amazing! Even the chocolate dessert rocked. It won’t be long before we are going to be seeing LUVO pop up everywhere.
After the luncheon we hit up the Expo! We visited with our good friends at Takeya to check out their fresh look! (Loved it) They are sporting some pretty sweet water bottles lately. Arctic Zero treated us nicely.. and in our books, won the award for best bags of the Expo! And booth after booth we went! Not to mention sneaking in a few interviews.. you will hear more about those later.
We were asked as apart of the We.Blog group to put together our top 3 product picks from the expo.. We decided to choose based on “wow” factor. You know those products that made us do a double take after testing their product.
1. Think Thin Protein Bar
Our new favorite protein bars…Think Thin (the salted caramel is amazing). I took one bite of the bar and had to ask to make sure it wasn’t a candy bar. It was that good. Full on protein bar that tastes incredible. The Think Thin bar is a design for those days when you don’t necessarily need a protein load and want to keep the calories down.
2. Neat Meat
This was ridiculous! It tastes just like meat! Carly, our vegetarian was so thrilled about this. Many vegetarians don’t eat meat not because they don’t like the taste but to support animal kindness. This product bring you the best of both worlds! Us girls that do eat meat will testify that it tastes like the real deal, and maybe more nutritious. See more of Neat Here!
We ran across this rad water bottle from Bobble that contains a filtration system! It can filter up to 300 refills before needing to be changed. Not only that but it is lightweight and sturdy. Big points from us when we are carrying around heavy diaper bags, refilling water bottles at the park fountains, and kids are launching the bottles from strollers. They also produce a BEAUTIFUL pitcher for your dinning table.. includes a filtration system as well but it hasn’t hit the market yet! Something to be excited for!
There were so many awesome products it was hard to pick just three… we were also excited about Mommi Protein (Cheers to Carly’s sis Erin!! this is her new company!!) You will be hearing more about them from us!
They day flew by and we had so much fun. We were all so so impressed with the expo and what it represents. We were up close and personal with small business owners who have a passion for producing holistic products that are environmentally friendly and healthy for our bodies. It was an inspiring day to say the least. It left us thinking about how many more ways we can be “green” in our daily living. How much better we can treat our bodies. There are healthy snack options available. There are natural alternatives to almost everything we do. Now we just have to decide for ourselves if that is our priority too.
Here is a nerdy little video I put together. Hope you enjoy..
