Do you feel it?! Summer is coming! Lean, spicy shrimp, homemade croutons, and plenty of fresh greens make up the perfect summer dinner. Anything that uses a grill is a win in my book. Homemade croutons take about 5 minutes to assemble, then you bake. Easy! You can season them any way you'd like, you're totally going to have all of the ingredients on hand, and they're such a yummy addition. The homemade lemon caesar dressing also takes 5 minutes to blend up, doesn't have any egg yolk, and . . .
We DO like Green Eggs and Ham...Waffle Sandwich, that is! Aren't you tired of oatmeal or toast? Let's try something new for breakfast, shall we? Brunch? Brinner? Trust me, it all works. Crispy Waffles I have been on the hunt for the perfect, crispy waffle for YEARS. Years, my friends. We have a delicious, healthy, hearty recipe for Oatmeal Waffles on here, but I wanted something simple and light and crisp--you know, the guilty kind with absolutley no health benefits. I've tried folding in . . .
You know what Asian restaurants are really good at making? Two things--Asian food and doughnuts. Here in Texas (and back in California) we have real doughnut shops on every corner. So I've grown to be picky, and these absolutely do not compare to grocery store doughnuts! And the Asian food...MAN do they make some good fried rice, egg drop soup, crab rangoons, and pork spring rolls! There's a lot of food that I love to fry, and I feel like I fry more food than most. People complain of it . . .
I'm really loving this Buddha Bowl week! They're healthy and do wonders for your PB&J lunches. When we were texting about what recipes we'd do, I immediately knew my newest obsession, these Chimichurri Grilled Chicken Bowls were my ticket. Chimichurri I've had chimichurri a few times before, some better than others, and even have another recipe on the site for Chimichurri Steak Tacos. But when my Argentine neighbor moved in two houses down, you know I hit her up for her chimichurri. . . .
Girl Scout Cookie season is nearing an end, but they will live on in my heart forever. So forever, that I made a pie you can make year-round with those babies. Thin Mint Chocolate Pie. It's rich, it's cool, it's what I want from Girl Scouts. I'll tell you a secret: these aren't even Thin Mints! They're Grasshopper cookies by Keebler. Sold at your local grocery store all year long. I think these taste better than Thin Mints and are a heckofalot cheaper too! I keep them in the refrigerator . . .
We love tacos. I can't tell you how many posts we have here that have that sentence in it. You know what makes tacos lousy? Store-bought tortillas. You know what makes tacos great? Homemade flour tortillas. . . .
Baked cake doughnuts. They come together in a cinch, like muffins, (or muffins or muffins) but look like you woke up at the crack of dawn to make FRIED cake doughnuts. Tired of typical Valentine's treats? Then whip these up with the rugrats and they'll love getting sprinkles and coconut all over your kitchen. They'll even lick up the mess for you. Promise. . . .
Have your meal plans this month consisted of tons of healthy chicken and vegetable dishes? Well I have another one for you!!! I promise you, it will not be your everyday healthy meal. And I promise you, you'll want to make it again. We're going Asian with a ginger garlic chicken made sticky and crisp with honey. Cast Iron Cooking--Sticky, Ginger Chicken Staub recently sent each of us a cast iron piece to try out. I already have a large dutch oven, so I really wanted a short, wide, . . .
Friends, do you remember when quinoa got, like, HUGE? I do. My super-healthy friend was all about putting quinoa in her chili and I thought that was the most disgusting thing ever and NO WAY would I ever eat this weird, hippy seed. Well guess what. I eat it now. And I love it. And it's the perfect carb and you should be eating it too!! Yeah, I get it, it's been presented as a fad (unfortunately, right there with kale), but quinoa has some serous perks, those fluffy, little nuggets! All About . . .
Someone very wise once said that a party without cake is just a meeting. Well, Julia Childs, I couldn't agree more! And chocolate cake is never a bad thing, especially when it's pretty and festive and makes you ohso happy it's the holidays so you can top your cake with things like peppermint sticks and rosemary wreaths. I can't have a party and not have a cake. My go-to the past several parties I've had has been this Salted Caramel Chocolate Cinnamon Cake because it's absolutely . . .
