The 4th of July is right around the corner – so I wanted to share with you what I have planned for my celebration! Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love being surrounded by friends and family while celebrating our country.
I love a pretty presentation (who doesn’t?!) and red, white, and blue are some of my favorite colors to dress up a table with!
I started out with a festive tablecloth that I found while browsing the aisles at Home Goods. All of the tableware you see here is by our fav – Fiesta. Their pieces are affordable, durable, and stylist. I can’t get enough of them, and the other girls here at Oh So feel the same. I added some basic red gingham napkins that I use for summertime entertaining and a large mason jar of peonies – cause they are my very favorite.
My favorite part of this table setting is BY FAR the Bistro sets. They were designed with a small lip around the edge so that your food doesn’t go rolling off on the floor during a party – so perfect for entertaining, but also perfect if you have small children at home like I do! They are sturdy and chip resistant which makes them a staple in my house. If a plate can’t hold up against my toddlers and the dishwasher, if doesn’t last long in my house. I chose white to go with any occasion, but Fiesta is famous for their wide color range – choose a color that matches your kitchen. A few of my favs in their color range are the turquoise and the cobalt!
A few details from my table include: 1. Soda in glass bottles – who agrees that soda our of glass tastes the very best!? 2. A big bowl of fresh fruit – my kids love it when I cut their watermelon into shapes. They eat it right up – literally! Simply slice your watermelon into large discs and then use a cookie cutter to cut out the shapes. 3. Tropical hotdogs with coconut relish – inspired by a trip to Kauai I took a few years ago. Stay tuned for this recipe. 4. Chips served up in mason jars to avoid dirty hands all in the same bowl. Also to avoid fighting amongst the little ones. 5. Raspberry sour cream cake – a favorite recipe of mine that will be featured later this week.
One of my favorite parts of Independence Day is dressing patriotically. These inexpensive Target tees are always on my list for my boys. They cost around $5 and they are the perfect outfit for drippy watermelon and ketchup. My boys also love these denim cutoff shorts! They go with everything and they are casual and comfy.
